In Memoriam Wil Wijngaards

Diagnosed with lung cancer mid January 2011 only, my father died of this disease on 7 October 2011. I have created this page to honour and remember him and to make sure his legacy lives on for years to come.

Picture taken during celebration of the 65th birthday of Wil Wijngaards (Feb 2011).
This picture above was taken during the celebration of my father's 65th birthday in Feb 2011, only 1 day before he received his first chemotherapy treatment.

Notice of his decease was provided either through the funeral card below (in Dutch) or through the obituary on Tuesday 11 October 2011 in BN DeStem (click images to open):

He received a worthy cremation ceremony in Roosendaal on 14 October. The kind words spoken (in Dutch, until I find time to translate) during the service are collected below:

» Bas Hagoort

» Erwin Audenaerde, on behalf of SRA and NVvA

» Davey Wijngaards, on behalf of Wil's brothers

» Peter Voeten, on behalf of the family-in-law

» Micha Wijngaards, yongest son

» Davey Wijngaards, oldest son

During the service the following three photos were shown (of which the last one only one week before his death, whilst fishing on the North Sea!). They can be viewed and/or downloaded by clicking the thumbnails:

Dad managed to move people in his day-to-day life. It can be read in the eulogies above. But it also shows from the number of people that visited the service (~280) and number of sympathy card received (~180) It provides consolation that he was so beloved by so many. Please feel free to download the memorial card below as token of our appreciation of all the support we received.
